Welcome To Ubers RMT
The name of this RMT is: Why Be A Rap God When You Can Be a Trap God? (but the subject couldnt include that much text smfh)
Who Dafuq Am i?
hi, my name is BT cant get burns, and i am otherwise known as Lotus BT. As you can tell by one of my names, i am apart of the lotus league, and am their ubers frontier. I enjoy the ubers tier the most out of all the tiers that are available to us on any standard server, its the most inclusive tier that Smogon provides, and truly brings its own meta game where the individuals unique sets really shine, pokemon have a multitude of options that are viable. Overall, i feel that the ubers tier is my most played tier and i understand the meta very well to be doing this RMT.
What is this team based around?
I truly wanted this team to build around mega gengar, it has probably one of the most sought after abilities in the game, shadow tag. With the ability to trap, you truly force your opponent to play safe so that you dont trap the wrong pokemon.
Teambuilding process
Gengar-Mega @ Gengarite
Ability: Shadow Tag
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Sludge Bomb
- Focus Blast
- Shadow Ball
- Perish Song / Taunt
Gengar possesses one of the best abilities in the game, shadow tag is the main reason Gengar got banned from OU. It provides so much utility which invaluable on certain teams. For example, say you have a team where you are stacking hazards, Gengar Switches into spinners such as Starmie, Excadrill, or defogers like Skarm and the Lati twins, you can sack something to send Gengar in, and kill them so that you can stack your hazards in for later. Translate that role into Ubers, where 130 speed and 170 Special attack are amazing for killing mons that you're team might struggle with. Sludge Bomb and Shadow Ball are for STAB, Focus Blast almost KO's Arceus E Killer and kills non / broken sash'ed Darkrais. Perish Song is good in the situation your opponent has 1 pokemon and you dont want to choke, but taunt can also prevent rocks from going onto your side of the field. Overall, i didnt see a real use for the 4th slot, but its there in case you need it.
Xerneas @ Power Herb
Ability: Fairy Aura
EVs: 104 HP / 96 Def / 252 SpA / 56 Spe
Modest Nature
- Geomancy
- Focus Blast
- Moonblast
- Thunder
Xerneas is the most reliable set up sweeper in the game in my opinion. It has so much offensive pressure after a geomancy and has the bulk to achieve a geomancy. Geomancy, if you dont know, is a charge based stat boosting move, increasing the Special Attack, Special Defense, and Speed 2 stages, pare that with a Power Herb, its like Quiver Dancing twice in one turn. Focus Blast Deals with the Steel types fairy types dont appreciate. Moonblast coupled with the Fairy Aura ability, its STAB cranks out so much damage. Thunder is mainly for Porge and Ho-oh, but i have lost games because i missed Thunder on Ho-oh so i would rely on it every time. The EV spread is specifically to outspeed Scarf Genesect at +2, and take a +2 Espeed From Arceus E Killer.
Rayquaza @ Life Orb
Ability: Air Lock
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Waterfall
- Extreme Speed / Surf
- Dragon Ascent
- Dragon Claw / V-Create / Sleep Talk
Rayquaza is mainly served as a revenge killer. I have Waterfall specifically for Pdon, but surf is just as viable and if not better, i just dont want to hurt Rayquaza's already mediocre bulk. Extreme Speed is just a quick way to pick of a boost threat like Darkrai (this team kind of struggles with this thing >_<), or a Xerneas at +2. Quick Note: i noticed on the ladder that alot of people see Rayquaza, send out their Xerneas, and proceed to Geomancy in my face as a *Spoilers* Dragons Ascent and pick them off with Extreme Speed (DONT BE ONE OF THOSE PLAYERS). Dragons Ascent is just powerful stab, so is dragon claw. I havent really used Dragon Claw at all when i ladder, so if you think V-Create or something else could help this mon out, be my guest. Sleep talk is an alternative if you want a way to deal with Darkrai, but i dont think this is the most practical way.
Kyogre-Primal @ Blue Orb
Ability: Primordial Sea
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpA / 8 Spe
Modest Nature
- Origin Pulse
- Ice Beam
- Sleep Talk
- Thunder
Porge is mainly used as a way to get a quick kill on groudon. It also deals with other Porges that run around. The primals are sort of always 50/50 games, if they are just as fast as you, you're playing off a speed tie, if they are say calm mind and run abit for speed than you, you are still technically more powerful. Also im pretty sure Kyorge can life a moonblast from +2 from a Xerneas, but don't quote me on that, im too lazy to calc. Porge deals with steel types the Xerneas doesnt appreciate, so does Gengar. This is a example of the team supporting each other. Rayquaza also kills most Pdon, so that helps Porge not have to play weather wars. Overall, Porge is a simple teammate that helps the team out in general.
Groudon-Primal @ Red Orb
Ability: Desolate Land
EVs: 240 HP / 100 Def / 168 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
- Lava Plume
Looking at the import now, i had a extra 96 evs i never put into defense >_< thats beside the point. Groudon is pretty much a staple of most ORAS ubers teams, it provides so much support and utility that is unmatched in this metagame. Stealth rocks help break potential sashes and helps secure KO's for the rest of the team. Stone edge helps aid the Ho-oh Weakness, earthquake is just good stab. Lava plume is nice for those burns (but bt cant get burns, he he). Overall, groudon is just a simple mon on this team meant for 2 roles, and fulfills them successfully.
Arceus-Steel @ Iron Plate
Ability: Multitype
EVs: 248 HP / 8 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Defog
- Recover
- Will-O-Wisp
- Judgment
Finally, we have the last member. Arceus-Steel is a unique way to end the team off. With the prevalence of Fighting, Ground, and Fire moves in the Ubers tier, you dont expect it to serve a huge purpose. This team supports it entirely however, with Gengar (not evolved), it patches up the Ground and Fighting weakness, Rayquaza helps with the Groudon weakness. Pdon and Porge take on fire types 1v1 almost every time, and really let Arceus-Steel shine through. I decide on Defog as the first move, Rocks in general hurt this team not too bad, but they are annoying. Non of my pokemon bar this have recovery, so every bit of HP i can save counts. Recover as i spoiled, is to keep this mon alive throughout the game. Will-O-Wisp is for Lugia and Arceus, to prevent Arceus from sweeping this team and to prevent Lugia from achieving Multiscale. Judgement is for stab. This pokemon serves as a fairy check, AKA another Xerneas Check. Xerneas has so much prevalence in this meta that i felt the need to dedicate one whole pokemon to check it, focus blast from my experience does about 70-80 max, and i've seen it do about 50-60, and witha 30% chance to miss, you can weaken it so that another pokemon like Rayquaza can finish it off. Overall, Arceus steel is a "unique" addition but i feel it is a good one non the less.
Threats To This Team:
Ho-Oh - You rely on Stone and Thunder to beat this thing.
Xerneas - Threat in general.
Darkrai - You play around sleep, once rocks are up and you have Gengar Mega'd its not hard to deal with.
Proof This Team is Actually Good:
I dont have any replaces to help me out, but i do have a ladder ranking screen shot:
