Little Snitch 4.3.1
This is primarily why I allow tracking by websites I use on a daily basis. Hardware? Software? No-ware? How do you make sure your Mac's locked down and keeping your secrets to itself? Sound off in the comments below. Requirements: Mac OS X Thank you guys. I am gonna try to learn more about LS. I kinda want to start over though, since I researched a bit more about it. Final question - for processes you "trust" forever, do you allow on the port/site or any connection? > I don't know how you imagine this would work. Its nothing new though. Layer-7 firewalls ("personal firewalls") have existed for desktop OSes for a while. I ran them in end of 90s on Windows 9x. Software such as ZoneAlarm, and there were others as well (IIRC LavaSoft had one, but not sure). Nowadays, Windows has one build-in.

Testing for open ports in Terminal
Not really much difference than manually checking some tens of thousands of lines of an open source application, or trusting that the binary you got from the repo corresponds to the source (and of course even hashes can be tampered).
As you can see, the remains of Little Snitch I’ve found are in these directories:
Alert Mode asks you to make a choice each time an application attempts to make a connection to the Internet. Once you make a choice, Little Snitch remembers your choices and allows or denies that connection in the future. Initially, if you're just starting to use Little Snitch, this can feel more like Annoying Mode, as you'll need to approve or deny every network connection attempt.
I wish something like this could run at the router level. I am certain my low-end IoT devices are sending out data I don't know about.
People Thanks a lot!
Crossing my fingers that someone knows of an alternative for Linux, but my hunch is, it'll be some crazy iptables scripts or something :/
Better don't start thinking about the other end...
